ElgooG in China

We all know China censors the internet and blocks websites which it thinks inappropriate for China using the so-called “Great Firewall” of China. In the year of 2002, The Original Google search engine was blocked by the Chinese government. At the same time internet users reported that elgooG was not blocked, so Chinese internet users, who want to use Google as their search engine had a backdoor method of accessing the search engine. Most likely, it never revealed to the Chinese government that although Google Mirror is a parody, but the results were coming directly from Google search engine.

Since then, Google and China have had a tough relationship. Google censored results in China — this action was criticized in the Western countries for doing so — and then Google withdrew from mainland China completely, directing all results to uncensored Hong Kong. As of early 2018, Google is completely blocked by Chinese Government along with social site like Facebook and other websites from foreign companies.

Don’t know whether Google mirror still works in China or not, but the chances are very high that it is blocked by now.

Conclusion

Now, ElgooG or Google Mirror doesn’t provide the real search result any more. Whatever you search, it provides results within the site. But it can be a fun to use this funny parody site.
